Carl is a psychologist at OpenUp. His empathetic, non-judgemental and warm approach makes you feel comfortable and at ease, creating space for you to share and work through your worries, challenges, and find solutions to your problems.

Carl believes that people want to grow, learn, and move towards their undecided potential. He does not wish to change your thoughts, feelings, or sensations; instead, he wants to help you become aware of, assess, and change your relationship to these events. He feels he can empower you to find and develop the tools within yourself to support positive change and he wants to enable you to pursue value-driven behaviour.

Carl’s therapy and approach are shaped by ACT, solution-focused therapy, and compassion-focused therapy.

Carl has been working as a psychologist for over eight years and has experienced various performance and well-being settings including professional sport, health and business environments.

Carl obtained his PhD in Psychology at the University of Bath in 2020 and has a Master’s degree in Sport Performance Psychology. He also currently works for a consultancy developing the professional workforce and improving psychological services within clinical settings across the UK.

In his free time, Carl enjoys surfing and exercising in nature. This helps him cope with the daily stressors and to connect to what is truly important to him whilst also prioritising his own mental health.

Carl speaks English.
