Navigating Mental Well-being Conversations With Your Team

After the Conversation: How to Have a Successful Follow-up

Ensuring a follow-up after a discussion on mental well-being is critical as it shows sincerity. If neglected, your employee may think that the conversation was managerial box-ticking, rather than genuine care.

Here are two easy tips to implement for a successful follow-up:

Set a reminder to check-in

Block space in your calendar to check-in. You don’t need to have an in-depth conversation every time, but a simple “How are you doing?” can make a difference.

Follow up on resources

Check in with the employee to see if the accommodations are working and if any adjustments need to be made. If your organisation uses OpenUp resources, make sure the employee knows how to access the platform.
