How do nature and nurture determine our happiness? This is the question that fascinates Meike Bartels, a distinguished biological psychologist and professor of “Genetics and Well-Being’’ at VU University Amsterdam.
While many studies focus on why people develop emotional or mental challenges, Meike researches why certain people feel well even under difficult circumstances. This has led her to investigate how genetic and environmental factors influence happiness, so that we can use that knowledge to prevent psychological challenges.
In this masterclass, Meike will explore a fundamental question: how to be happier. She will discuss:
- – The interplay of genetics and life experiences in shaping happiness.
- – How genetic predispositions affect our well-being.
- – Evidence-based strategies for a happier life.
