Daan van Overbeek
Daan is a psychologist at OpenUp. Most people immediately feel at ease with Daan. He is non-judgmental, but at the same time he is not afraid to touch upon emotional triggers. He believes that (psychological) pain is a part of being alive, and together with you, he will explore how to balance between solutions and acceptance of your struggles.
In the past 7 years as a working psychologist, he has mastered various methods including: ACT, EMDR and exposure, CBT and mindfulness. In his mission to normalize having psychological complaints and to break the taboo around this, Daan will regularly emphasize that it is okay what you think or feel.
Besides these methods, Daan is gentle, empathetic, and authentic. He will therefore not be afraid to share his own experience in dealing with pain when he estimates that this is helpful. To take care of his own mental health, Daan meditates, shares, works out and makes sure to do enough things that he enjoys.
Daan studied Clinical Neuropsychology. After graduation, he took numerous courses, including several ACT courses and a silent mindfulness retreat.
Daan speaks both English and Dutch.
