Atsuko Takemi
Atsuko helps people navigate periods of change, uncertainty, self-discovery, and self-realisation.
Her approach combines psychological insight, systemic counselling, CBT, and body-awareness practices to help clients reconnect with themselves and move forward with greater clarity, confidence, and self-trust. Her interest in psychology began early in life. Growing up, a question fascinated her: why do some people develop psychological difficulties even when they seem healthy and are surrounded by a loving family?
This curiosity eventually led her to study psychology and spend many years exploring what helps people develop, grow, and create meaningful change in their lives.
Years later, while living in Germany and navigating her own divorce, the psychological theories and tools she had learned became deeply personal. She experienced firsthand how self-awareness, psychological flexibility, and a willingness to commit to change can help us rebuild our lives and discover strengths we did not know we had.
Having lived and worked in Japan, Germany, Turkey, and the Netherlands, Atsuko understands the challenges of cultural transitions, identity, belonging, relationships, and starting over. She knows that even positive life changes can bring uncertainty, self-doubt, and emotional overwhelm.
Clients often describe her as warm, insightful, and effective. Her sessions offer both space for reflection and concrete tools for everyday life, including body-awareness and breathing techniques that support emotional resilience and stress management. At the heart of her work is a simple belief: meaningful change does not come from fixing ourselves. It begins when we reconnect with who we truly are.
Sessions are available in German, Japanese, and English.

Working style
Atsuko's working style is warm, collaborative, and solution-focused. She creates a space where clients can slow down, gain clarity, and reconnect with their own inner resources during times of stress, uncertainty, or change.
Her work is grounded in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and systemic counselling. Together with her clients, she explores the connections between thoughts, emotions, behaviours, relationships, and life circumstances.
She helps clients understand the patterns that may be keeping them stuck and supports them in creating meaningful and sustainable change. Atsuko believes that every person is the expert of their own life.
She works collaboratively with clients to help them reconnect with their strengths, values, and capacity to navigate challenges. Her role is to provide guidance, perspective, and practical tools while empowering clients to take ownership of their own journey and explore their potential.
A distinctive part of her approach is the integration of body-awareness and breathing techniques. She believes that lasting change happens not only through insight, but also through developing a felt sense of safety, resilience, and self-trust in everyday life. These practices help clients regulate stress, reconnect with themselves, and access their natural ability to respond to challenges more effectively. Clients often appreciate that sessions are both reflective and practical. Together, they explore what matters most, identify concrete next steps, and build the confidence needed to move forward in a way that feels authentic and aligned with who they truly are.
