Berbel is a psychologist at OpenUp. Safety, calmness, and trust are integral to her client conversations. During a session, you will explore your current challenges and make a plan for your future direction. She offers you a listening ear without judging and knows when to dig deeper into further questions, when appropriate.
Berbel holds up a compassionate mirror to you. What beliefs are behind your feelings and behaviour? Which patterns do not serve you (anymore) and how do you take the first step towards change? She uses methods such as Acceptance and Commitment therapy (ACT), cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), systemic work, mindfulness and Voice Dialogue.
In addition to her job at OpenUp, Berbel has a private practice in counselling, trauma coaching, and therapy and is part of a national operating team in trauma care and aftercare. She also conducts PTSD-related research, including PTSD symptoms related to pregnancy and childbirth.
For her own mental health, she likes to start the day with sports or end it with a nice walk with her dogs in nature.
Berbel speaks both Dutch and English.
“All that you would like to change, get rid of or strengthen, starts with curiosity, courage, and self-compassion. I’ll be more than happy to guide you on this journey!”
